About the team The Workforce Metrics team manages and maintains data for the APS workforce, such as the APS Remuneration Survey and the Australian Public Service (APS) Employment Database (APSED).
The team also supports APS workplace gender equality reporting.
Data reported by the team assists in the management of a capable and effective APS workforce and contributes to key publications such as the annual State of the Service Report, the APS Employment Data Release, and the APS Remuneration Data Release.
The key duties of the position include: APS-wide collection, management, analysis and reporting of relevant workforce data and metrics.
This includes the APS Remuneration Survey and the Australian Public Service Employment Database (APSED), the central repository of APS workforce data.
Ensuring data reporting meets the needs of the Commission and APS agencies and enables an APS workforce which delivers services to the Government and the Australian community.
Ensuring the maintenance of appropriate data governance, and ensuring that data handling practices adhere to relevant privacy policies and legislation.
Managing the reporting of data and analysis to inform routine reporting and providing data and insights (e.g.
for the APSC's annual State of the Service Report).
Development of a range of ministerial products and briefing material to the APS Commissioners.
Ensuring data is easily understood through the provision of concise and accurate analysis and communication of trends and insights in written and visual formats.
Managing a team of data professionals, ensuring ongoing team capability and capacity.
Managing team activities to meet deadlines of required deliverables while handling ad hoc requests for data analysis and workforce metrics information.
Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to build relationships and formulate solutions to data and information requirements for current and emerging workforce issues across the APS.
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) or, in limited circumstances, in the process of obtaining citizenship.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated.
All Commission staff are required to have a minimum Baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a mandatory National Criminal History check as part of the pre-employment eligibility checks.
