Management - Universities, Other (Education & Training) Full time, 5-year fixed term appointment Senior Contract Casuarina Campus Provide leadership for the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) at Charles Darwin University (CDU) About the Position As the Director Research and Innovation, you will provide strategic leadership to the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) at CDU, supporting the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research and Innovation (DVCRI) to identify and develop research opportunities, and promote innovation and commercialisation across CDU's institutes, centres, and campuses.
CDU is a research intensive University, undergoing significant growth in its research portfolio and Higher Degree by Research student cohort.
You will contribute to the University's strategic management of Research Block Grants, operationalisation of initiatives that will grow the portfolio and improve research outcomes across the University, strategic planning and mobilisation of resources that support research objectives.
About You To be successful, you will require: Relevant tertiary education qualifications with demonstrated experience undertaking postgraduate research.
Demonstrated experience in senior leadership within a University Research office or equivalent.
This includes demonstrated experience in research and innovation management, business development and success in implementing service improvement strategies in a complex workplace environment.
Demonstrated high-level knowledge of the Australian and global research and innovation environment and research management and research policy in Australia.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills at both strategic and operational levels, including effective management of multi-disciplinary professional staff.
Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to the strategic direction of a large, diverse organisation.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement research policy.
Demonstrated experience in financial control and budget management resulting in successful outcomes and high levels of accountability.
Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and presentation skills for effective liaison and negotiation with external stakeholders and staff.
Ability to support DVCRI through periods of change and to act as an example, for his/her staff, of can-do attitude, focused on service to the research community at the University, and across other service units.
