Marketing Communications (Marketing & Communications)Australian Energy Producers is the peak body of the explorers, developers and producers of essential energy — oil, gas, and lower-emission fuels.Our organisation represents the businesses that are ensuring energy security and delivering substantial economic benefits to Australia.Australian Energy Producers has a long and proud history of advocating for the oil and gas industry since 1959, highlighting the immense contribution of the sector to the Australian economy and to our energy security.Our industry is a critical partner in delivering the net zero economy and has an important and long-term role in enabling the transformation of the energy system.Representing more than 95 per cent of oil and gas production in Australia, Australian Energy Producers works collaboratively with industry, the community and Australia's national, state and territory governments to ensure the country's regulatory and commercial framework enables a positive, sustainable and competitive operating environment for the industry.About The RoleReporting to the General Manager Communications, the Director Media and Communications is responsible for executing Australian Energy Producers' corporate communications and media strategy. Working in close collaboration with the Policy team, this role will lead the member and corporate communications and media relations team to disseminate accurate and timely information, drive engagement and awareness of the industry sector's role and the criticality of gas in delivering the new net zero economy.This role will work closely with Australian Energy Producers senior leadership team and external providers to ensure communications and media engagement is delivered effectively and influences key decision makers to achieve positive outcomes for the industry and the community as a whole.Responsibilities include:Ensure the effective execution of the communications strategy and monitoring of the effectiveness of Australian Energy Producers communications activities.Provide leadership and direction in the execution of corporate communications including supporting the effective communication of policy submissions and research.Actively drive the timely and accurate drafting of speeches, presentations, publications, press releases, op eds and other content.Maintain oversight of the dissemination of corporate communications materials and consistency of message across all communications platforms.Maintain effective relations with members in order to generate news and content that is informative and value adding for our members.Work with the Australian Energy Producers leadership team to ensure media communications are engaging and influence key stakeholders, including government, industry and other organisations.Establish and maintain critical press and publicity stakeholder relations.Proactively monitor media relations, activities and any emerging issues.Ensure, at all times, Australian Energy Producers has a central media contact, including after hours and weekends.As necessary, act as the primary media contact for Australian Energy Producers in relation to news and media releases.Maintain currency on news and current affairs and their impact on Australian Energy Producers.Proactively work with the Policy and Events teams to plan and execute the media and communications activities for the Australian Energy Producers' annual conference.Oversee the daily, timely distribution of media monitoring.Provide leadership to the team that encourages, motivates and provides opportunities for development; manage individual team member performance.Contribute to work programs of the Corporate Affairs Committee and the Board as required.About YouTo succeed in this role, you will have:Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations, or related discipline.Extensive experience working as a journalist, media communications specialist or similar.Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience as a corporate communications specialist.Demonstrated expertise in developing high quality written communications, speeches, editorial, newsletters and other relevant communications.Experience in public affairs, government relations or cross-function communications.Proven track record of successfully managing media campaigns and securing positive media coverage.Demonstrated experience in crafting media communications and working directly with the media to deliver organisation communications.A solid understanding of media and a network of media contacts.Proven ability in media crisis management.Ability to manage high-volume programs of work with multiple stakeholders and across different audiences.Experience in media relations and corporate communication, in the oil and gas, energy, or resources sectors.Experience working across different geographical jurisdictions.We welcome your application in the form of a cover letter highlighting your experience and interest along with a detailed CV.1.
