The Role As our company continues to expand, we're thrilled to offer a full-time position for a Diesel Mechanic or suitably experienced person to join our busy service department. We're seeking an individual eager to contribute to our business's ongoing success. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the flawless operation of essential sprinkler and hydrant booster pumps for our clients, providing them with peace of mind through high-quality service and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities: Perform preventative maintenance on fire pumps and diesel drivers, including but not limited to inspections, oil changes, greasing, minor repairs, and gland packing of pump sets in accordance with AS1851.Operate and test units after service/repairs to verify correct operation and ensure issues have been resolved.Collaborate with fire pump suppliers to assist with diagnosing problems, quoting repair costs, and facilitating the repair process.Use diagnostic instruments and a range of hand and power tools to carry out repairs and maintenance work.Maintain regular attendance and punctuality as a key part of the job.Perform other duties as required.To excel in this role, the selected candidate will need to have: Proven expertise in the service, repair, and diagnostics of diesel engines.Strong ability to analyse technical issues and apply problem-solving skills to resolve mechanical challenges.Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to accurately record service activities and maintenance logs.Ability to read, interpret, and follow service instructions and technical manuals.Solid technical and mechanical skills, with a preference for candidates with knowledge of fire pump systems but not essential.Strong organizational skills and the ability to self-manage a busy workload.Basic computer proficiency for job-related tasks and documentation.Tertiary education as a diesel mechanic or significant relevant work experience.Knowledge of diesel engines, electric drivers, coupling alignment, and general hydraulics with pumps as the role may require gland repacking, and related tasks.Familiarity with safety procedures, hazards, and best practices related to maintenance and repair work.Experience with modern equipment maintenance practices, tools, and materials.Ability to work effectively as part of a team, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.If you're a skilled Diesel Mechanic or suitably experienced person looking for a change to a new service industry and have a strong mechanical background and a focus on safety and quality, we'd love to hear from you.
