About the role The Design-Led Innovation Manager leads and supports the design and innovation team, cultivating a dynamic, creative and collaborative atmosphere that fuels CityLab's innovation initiatives.
They play a crucial role in strengthening the team's development and capabilities within CityLab.
This leadership role will involve establishing and refining design processes and methodologies, staying informed on industry trends, nurturing creative confidence, and fostering productive relationships with stakeholders to enhance collaboration and achieve strategic objectives.

Your responsibilities will include: Provide people management support to the design-led innovation team, offering guidance and fostering professional development by instilling creative confidence and empowering team members to reach their potential.Collaborate with the Head of Innovation Practice to implement design research, prototyping, and testing processes ensuring compliance with relevant policies, legislation and best practices.Support all CityLab team members in enhancing their capabilities to ensure high-quality output and successful project delivery.Stay informed on contemporary design approaches and emerging technology trends, working with the Head of Innovation Practice to incorporate these into the team's development.Contribute to CityLab operations by helping form project teams and assisting the Operations Manager with resourcing needs.Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, influencing decisions and improving collaboration to align with CityLab's objectives.Regularly collect feedback from team members and stakeholders on project progress, addressing issues and ensuring continuous improvement in performance.Oversee program and team budgets, ensuring financial effectiveness and proper tracking of outcomes.To be successful, you will possess the following… Tertiary degree or extensive experience in design, innovation or related disciplines with deep knowledge of design thinking, research and innovation methodologies.Proven leadership and team management skills, with a track record of inspiring teams to deliver high-quality work.Experience in design management, leading teams of designers and creative professionals, and fostering professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.Strong budgeting and project management abilities, effectively managing resources to meet project deadlines and financial targets.Experience in managing complex issues in a politically sensitive environment, adapting to change while delivering high-quality results.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including report writing, presentations and negotiation with diverse stakeholders.Skilled at building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at all levels with a clear understanding of their needs.How to apply This is a fantastic and dynamic opportunity to build the career you have developed to date and become an integral part of the vibrant energy that defines Melbourne city.
