City of Port Phillip has zero tolerance for child abuse and is a committed Child Safe organisation.About the RoleThe Building Solutions team at City of Port Phillip are looking for an enthusiastic and team-focused Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor who will lead Council processes to comply with the requirements of the Local Government Act, Building Act, Building Regulations and the Building Code of Australia as detailed by Council's delegation schedule.Duties:Coordinate and lead the efficient operation of the Building team in all statutory, regulatory, and administrative functions.Support the Municipal Building Surveyor in all statutory, regulatory, and administrative functions.Provide expert advice and assistance on all matters to Council, senior management, other staff members, external organisations, customers, State government organisations and authorities.Act as delegate of the Municipal Building Surveyor as defined in the Instrument of Delegations under the Building Act 1993 and Building Regulations 2018.Act as the Municipal Building Surveyor as required.Skills and Experience:Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying.Registered Building Practitioner in the category of Building Surveyor - Unlimited.Previous local government experience of at least 10 years in a senior position in a building department, with a preference for experience as a deputy municipal building surveyor.At least 10 years experience in leading, coordinating and mentoring a team.Culture:People enjoy working at the City of Port Phillip because we are a welcoming, healthy and inclusive workplace.
