About the RoleThe Group Risk Business Governance & Controls (BG&C) Team supports the end-to-end management of Non-Financial Risk for the Risk Division.
This role and team are responsible for providing effective Data Management and Governance support to the Group CRO and RLT, as required under the Bank's Enterprise Data Governance Framework and in relation to the Data Risk Theme as per the NFR framework. This role and team are expected to work collaboratively with peers across the Divisional BG&C Function, as well as others across the organisation where there is a focus on data.

What will your day look like?Provide leadership to the BG&C Data Governance team including support and prioritisation of work, as required.Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Data Governance Framework within the Group Risk, COE.Be responsible for alignment with Group-wide data management standards and expectations.Be responsible for the management and oversight of the Data Risk Theme for the Risk Function, including Data Risk Treatment Plans and Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Control Objectives.Drive the execution of Data Quality Incident Management (DQIM) activities across Group Risk, including prioritisation, resolution tracking, and root cause analysis.Facilitate workshops or forums to address recurring data quality issues and identify systemic improvements.Manage the Divisional Data Governance Forum, including forward agenda, open actions and secretariat duties.Provide the Group Risk with Data Governance advice as it relates to execution of the Enterprise Data Governance Framework or the Data Risk Theme.Ensure Data Impact Assessments (DIA) are completed as required and within set timeframes.Create and present regular updates on the status of data governance initiatives.Deliver insights to senior stakeholders on systemic issues, risk mitigation efforts, and overall maturity of data governance processes.Stay informed on emerging regulatory expectations related to data governance and ensure compliance is embedded across processes.Support audits and assurance activities by providing evidence of effective governance and risk management practices.What will you bring?The 'must have' knowledge, skill and experience (KSE) the role requires are:
Self-driven leadership and team building skills.Excellent Communication skills (written and verbal) to engage and influence.Strong understanding of data governance principles, policies, and frameworks, including experience implementing and embedding governance practices in large organizations.Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards (e.g., APRA CPS 230, GDPR, BCBS 239) and their implications for data management.Proven experience in managing data quality issues, root cause analysis, and implementing data quality improvement strategies.Knowledge of NFR management, particularly the integration of data governance into operational and enterprise risk frameworks.Ability to clearly present risk findings and recommendations to business stakeholders and to apply knowledge to identify, assess and develop strategies for effective data governance.Ability to analyse complex data ecosystems, identify risks and opportunities, and develop actionable solutions.Proficiency in using data analytics tools and platforms to measure data quality and governance performance.Ability to establish, build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and influence/negotiate change with senior stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.Courage and commitment to drive change.Ability to manage priorities and conflicting issues in a professional/risk-based manner.So why join us?From the moment you join ANZ, you'll be doing meaningful work that will shape a world where people and communities thrive.
