About the role… 'Powering EnergyAustralia to make better data driven decisions towards a greener energy future'

Reporting to the Data Product Leader – Trading, Generation & Corporate, the Data Engineering Lead will be responsible for the support and uplift of the data platform, leading the technical delivery of data engineering solutions and ensuring the code quality and standards are of a high standard, along with balancing the incoming work. Additional responsibilities include:

Lead the Data Engineering DevSecOps team, coaching, mentoring and uplifting capabilities. Manage backlog of new work. Work with the Software Engineering team to design and develop patterns for appropriate data ingestion and interfacing mechanisms such as consumption layer databases, APIs and caches. Drive the data solution designs and architecture, working with the Data Design Lead and solution architects to continually mature and evolve the data landscape. Apply DevSecOps principles utilising CI/CD workflows for accelerated development of infrastructure components and data ingestion pipelines. Be Impactful when you are applying… You will have strong engineering experience leading & excellent written and verbal communication in both general and technology-specific applications. Additionally:

Tertiary qualification in computer science, information technology, business systems or other relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent significant practical experience. Demonstrated expert level skills in data engineering technologies including Structured Query Language (SQL), Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), Apache Spark and Python. Demonstrated ability to technically lead engineering teams and drive outcomes and deliveries in a complex enterprise environment. Extensive demonstrated experience in designing and building data solutions. Skilled on cloud data architectures and Big Data Analytics in AWS Stack (Athena, Glue, Kinesis, Redshift, Step functions, Lambda, EMR, S3, DynamoDB, Postgres) and Databricks. Solid hands-on experience on advanced SQL techniques on cloud data warehouse technologies e.g. Redshift, Databricks lake house etc. Experience implementing a DataOps framework and with CI/CD highly preferred.
