You will be responsible for database maintenance but more importantly designing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection within and across Urbis.The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. This role will support our software developers and data analysts on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout Urbis. Urbis provides an exciting multi-disciplinary environment to refine your skills and grow your career.You will:Maintain existing on and off-prem (Azure) databases to support business continuityCreate and maintain an optimal data pipeline architectureAssemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements (spatial data, financial data performance & primary survey data)Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalabilityBuild the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL as well as MS Azure technologiesBuild analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights from a blend of demographic, real estate and proprietary Urbis datasetsWork with stakeholders including Executive, Applications & Data teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their future data infrastructure needsKeep our data under an appropriate level of governance structures such that it is secure and appropriately accessible to staff, Business Units, offices and clients both on and off premisesRecommend and implement best practice data tools for our internal analytics team members that assist them in building Urbis into a leader in the Proptech industryAbout You:Minimum 5 years of experience working with data and at least 3 years in AzureTertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative fieldExperience using the following software/tools:Significant experience within the MS Azure cloud environment. Certification to AZ900 as a minimum but preferably DP-200 & DP201Proven experience as a data engineer, preferably using Azure services (Synapse Analytics, ADLSGen2, KeyVault, ADF, Azure functions)Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or equivalent for data engineering tasks.Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgresExperience with big data tools, such as Hadoop, Spark or Kafka (not mandatory but candidates with this experience will be viewed favourably)Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvementA successful history of linking, manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasetsFamiliarity with Git for version control and Azure DevOps for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.Who we are:Urbis is a market-leading built environment consultancy that shapes the cities and communities of Australia for a better future.
