As the Cyber Security Advisor Manager, you will provide complex cyber security advice, awareness, resilience, and training initiatives to improve organisational or whole-of-government cyber security capability.
Responsibilities include leading cyber security reviews of digital products to identify risks and develop treatment plans to mitigate cyber risks, undertaking and arranging risk identification activities, providing leadership and guidance on the management and mitigation of cyber risks, and leading the development and collation of metrics that demonstrate progress towards desired business outcomes related to the cyber advisory function.
The security advisors provide a business-critical service in a range of unique and interesting technology areas, identifying, quantifying, and helping manage technical risk. As the manager of the advisors, you will be a hands-on technical leader, responsible for leading the team and advising on cyber security risk related to a range of different technical changes, largely centred around web application development and deployment, but extending into hardware devices, network architecture, and other areas.
To be successful in this role, you will have substantial experience in a cyber security advisory role and have already led cyber security advisors. You will need to leverage an understanding of software application development and the associated lifecycle in order to understand and advise on changes. Using threat modelling techniques, you will be able to identify threats from a combination of your understanding of common security issues and a threat modelling library. By considering the motivations, skill level, and ease of exploitation for an attack, you will be able to quantify risks using the SNSW risk framework in order to help teams advise on potential issues prior to release.
In this role, the ability to consult subject matter experts, apply analytical frameworks, digest technical software designs, and understand issues relating to the security of developed web applications is essential.
Salary Service NSW Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $151,509 base plus superannuation.
