Job DescriptionAs a Customs Classifier, you are responsible to prepare customs clearance declarations on behalf of some of the most reputable companies both locally and globally for submission to Customs in compliance with national regulatory provisions and in adherence to the company's policies and procedures.
You will manage shipments by accurately classifying and valuing import and export products for customs clearance.
Your goal will be to classify clear goods effectively and compliantly across our international border and form part of the team servicing the requirements of the clients.
You will continually seek opportunities for service enhancement and improved operational processes.
You will input milestones and communications within specified timeframes in line with Key Performance Indicators to provide visibility for your clients.Key Responsibility:Daily Processing: You will monitor and manage a suite of clients from document assessment through to entry submission.
This includes liaising with customers and our network for missing documents and information whilst following our unique entry processing procedures using state of the art technology within our internal KPI'sDaily Management: Review and respond to emails within the company policy timeframe.Liaising with customers, Customs, DAFF and colleagues in order to complete entries within internal KPI'sClassification and Valuation: Assessment and review of Tariff classification information including storage of supporting informationEntry Processing: Pre lodge and review entries including gathering information relating to Community Protection Questions.
Entering AEP commodity codes and BMSB codes on the Customs entry.
Amendment of entries where required.QualificationsCompletion of Diploma of Customs Broking OR currently completingPreferred experience classifying a broad range of productsKnowledge of Government RegulationsStrong understanding of Quarantine clearance including processing through COLS and understanding of BMSB measuresIntegrated Customs System and Third Party Systems experienceAccounting knowledgeStrong problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skillsSolid oral and written communication skillsKnowledge of International freight shipping termsGeneral Mathematical knowledge, including but not exclusive to, dealing with Exchange Rates, Foreign Currency, and General LedgerRoad Transport Operational knowledgeStrong problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skillsSolid oral and written communication skillsGood geographical knowledge
