Cremator Operator

The Cremator Operator is responsible for overseeing the entire cremation process, from preparing remains to performing the cremation and final processing of ashes.
The role includes maintaining crematory equipment, following regulatory standards, and providing respectful, compassionate service to families.
Strong attention to detail, safety adherence, and sensitivity are essential.
Key Responsibilities:Perform Cremation Procedures:
• Operate and monitor cremation equipment according to company protocols and legal regulations.
• Prepare remains for cremation, ensuring correct identification and tagging of all remains.
• Follow the appropriate timeline for each cremation and ensure that remains are properly handled throughout the process.Equipment Maintenance and Cleaning:
• Inspect crematory equipment daily to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on the cremator, and report any malfunctions or needed repairs to the supervisor.Documentation and Compliance:
• Complete all required documentation, including identification records and cremation authorizations.
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations concerning cremation and the handling of remains.
• Ensure accurate records for tracking, inventory, and chain of custody for all remains.Customer Service:
• Handle remains with sensitivity and respect, understanding the needs of grieving families.
• Communicate professionally with funeral home staff and families, when necessary.Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
• Follow health and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Adhere to environmental standards and emissions regulations for crematory operations.
• Manage waste and materials in compliance with legal and environmental regulations.Qualifications:• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in crematory operations, funeral services, or a related field preferred but not required.
Skills:• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures.
• Good mechanical skills and the ability to maintain and operate specialized equipment.
• Physical ability to lift and maneuver remains and work in a heated environment.
• Sensitivity, discretion, and a professional demeanor.
