Costco Epping Full Time Meat Department Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises and participates in the daily operations of the Meat Department. Supports the Meat Department management team in promoting a high level of productivity. Implements and upholds proper Meat Department and general safety procedures and standards. Maintains courteous member service at all times.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
Develops, coaches, counsels, and directs Meat Department personnel. Monitors employee performance. Provides proactive feedback to promote teamwork and accountability among employees. Participates in the employment process by making recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination. Participates in Meat Department employee evaluations. Responds to employee concerns using problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with the Costco Employee Agreement and other applicable regulations. Approves timecards and other reports. Logs sanitation procedures performed on daily report. Complies with health code. Follows safety and security procedures and reads labels for proper use and precautions of cleaning products. Assists with stocking cases and follows department production procedures and standards for quality and consistency of finished product. Follows Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) guidelines as it refers to proper cleaning and sanitation of all equipment required by this position. Completes and complies with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety Certification, and all safety training required by warehouse and Meat Department. Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary. Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and vendors. Determines production requirements and participates in meat cutting. Checks quality and consistency of finished merchandise. Oversees merchandise presentation and merchandising. Reviews sanitation log and checks for health code compliance. Approves and submits physical inventory periodically and orders to buying office for equipment, merchandise, and supplies. Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
Computer, copier, phone, Band Saw, tenderiser, grinder, wheeled racks, wrapping machine, and pressure washer. Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates should possess):
Education/Training: High School Certificate or Trade Qualification (Butcher) is preferred but not required. Licenses/Certifications: None. Experience/Skills: Supervisory, customer service, leadership, or comparable experience. Other specific requirements: Must be available to work a rotating roster that includes weekends, early mornings, and late nights.
