Parental Leave cover The opportunity: Join our team as a Processing Scientist, where you'll play a key role in day-to-day operations at our Cord Blood Production Lab. Your responsibilities will include handling the logistics of cord blood and maternal blood samples, from receipt and processing to testing and storage. You'll ensure accurate documentation, maintain critical stock levels, and perform quality control on lab equipment. In this role, you'll also liaise with collection centers, testing labs, and courier services to support the processing of samples for transplantation and research purposes.

Your responsibilities include: Communicating with the Collection Centres regarding shipping, transport and delivery of cord blood (CB) units, blood samples and associated documentationPerforming in-house testing of CB and Maternal Blood including flow cytometry and full blood countsCheck and administer incoming cord blood units and maternal blood samples received from the Cord Blood Collection CentresMaintain data bases for all cord blood processing details, storage locations, test results and donor informationContribute as required to the development and review of operational procedures in accordance with current TGA cGMP, FACT-Netcord standards, OH&S and other regulatory requirementsWhat we need from you: A tertiary qualification in a Life Science related discipline (BSc/BAppSci, Dip.Sci) or other appropriate field is desirableAppropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation in laboratory practicesExperience in the safe handling of biological products and aseptic techniquesDemonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the application of equipment and materials related to blood processing proceduresA good understanding of the Code of Good Manufacturing Practice for Human Blood and Tissues, OH&S regulations and Quality SystemsExperience working within an accredited, regulated environment such as TGA - licensed, FACT-accredited, NATA-accredited or other regulatory accredited environment is desirableWhat's in it for you?
