About The Team
Insurance services manage the City's Insurance portfolio ensuring that the City effectively manages insurance risk. The Business Unit (BU) delivers professional, proactive and best practice insurance and liability services and advice. The wider portfolio consists of General Insurance and Workers Compensation and the BU also oversees the management of the City of Gold Coast Insurance Company Limited (our Captive insurance company).
About Your New Role
The Coordinator City Cover will lead a team that supports injured City workers with their rehabilitation and return to work. This role involves managing statutory and common law claims, overseeing the Council's self-insurance obligations, and assisting with strategic planning, risk management, and continuous improvement to align with best practices and changing regulations.
We're Looking For People Who Have
Your leadership will be key to ensuring that your team is supported in their efforts to support injured Council workers rehabilitate and return to work. You will focus on compliance with regulatory obligations to uphold the City's Self-insurance workers' compensation licence. The ideal candidate will have:
Experience as a Workers' Compensation Leader with exceptional leadership and management skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills that see you influence and inspire your team and other stakeholders that you support. The capability to manage all activities of the self-insured workers' compensation business unit for the City of Gold Coast Council. Experience driving the strategy and continuous improvement of a workers' compensation program/portfolio in a similar organisation (preferably a large public sector organization). The ability to analyse workers' compensation data to identify trends, costs, drivers and opportunities for improvement. A deep understanding of workers' compensation legislation and regulation and the ability to use this to train and develop others to meet a best practice standard. Benefits
