About the role
Opportunity currently exists for a Cook to Join our Vegetarian Indian Restaurant, NSW. The position is fulltime.
• Cooks prepare, season and cook food in the kitchen.
• Preparing and cooking food, seasoning and portioning dishes as per the Menu of the Savariya restaurant.
• Prepare different specialty cuisine like Rajasthani food, South Indian(Dosa,Idly and vada), Gujarati, Kathiawadi, Punjabi and Bombay Street Food.
• Should be able to make different authentic vegetarian curries for Thali and other curries from Menu.
• Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Discussing food preparation issues with Chef and Managers.
• Prepares specialty/festive sweets(Dessert) such as Ghewar, Gulab Jamun, Burfi, Jalebi, Different types of Halwa and other traditional Indian sweets.
• Candidate should be able to prepare different types of breads on tandoor(Naan), Puris and Paratha's.
• Preparing ingredients as per the Chef instructions and requirement on a daily basis.
• Examining food to ensure quality.
• Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes.
• Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities to ensure ingredients are stored appropriately.
• Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements as per customer request.
• Will be required to assist the chef with menus and estimate food requirements.
• Will be required to train any junior staff and monitor the kitchen hand as required.
Required Skills –
-The candidate holds a relevant qualification. (Cert3/4 in Hospitality)
- 2-3 years' work experience in a busy restaurant
- Knowledge of ingredients and recipes
- Ability to perform duties without supervision.
- Be able to work in busy environment
