Who Are We? Gusto's Home Hub is a provider of prepared meals to participants of the NDIS. We also provide a garden maintenance service.
Up until recently, Angus as a qualified chef has attracted clients purely by word-of-mouth and through that good reputation, this has created a rare opportunity to add another professional cook onto the team on a casual basis.
Duties Include:
MENU RESEARCH & PLAN
Clients will have specifications e.g. allergies, intolerances, portion, dislikes etc. that will require research to meet the needs of the client. Efficiently sequence food preparation tasks within realistic time frames.
FOOD PREPARATION Mise En Place: Preparation of dishes and ingredients before the beginning of service. Food Safety and Hygienic practices. Grouping ingredients. Weighing and measuring ingredients (dry & wet) Washing, peeling and trimming. Waste minimization techniques. Storage of re-usable by-products.
COOKING Different cooking methods (poaching, frying, steaming, pressure cooking etc.) Combination of ingredients and flavors for each dish. Cooling of food before storage.
CLEANING DOWN Washing all equipment used. Drying equipment and returning. Washing and sanitizing all surface areas used. Removal of waste.
The successful candidate will demonstrate that they have attained the skills listed above in their commercial cooking experience and fully grasp our Gusto's Home Hub ethos "As house proud as you are". A cook that demonstrates compassion through their work history and in the job interview process is going to be well-placed to be given this rare opportunity. The successful applicant will also have all the benefits of a great work-life balance as cooking takes place within regular school hours avoiding late nights and also having weekends off.
