Merit list/pools and how they will be used Applicants suitable for the role but not offered the position for the current vacancy may be placed in a merit list or pool. The Role The Directorate's work includes:Dedicated support for the highest priority ASCA procurement and contracting.Commercial assurance and advice for other procurements and contract management activities.Design and delivery of procurement policies and frameworks tailored to ASCA's requirements.Coordination with Defence projects and other stakeholders to ensure rapid transition to acquisition for capabilities developed under ASCA programs.Procurement of ASCA support services and other enabling agreements.Engaging specialist advice from within and outside Defence, including price and cost analysis, probity advice and legal services as required.This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team The Acquisition and Commercial Directorate enables ASCA programs by delivering high quality procurement, contracting and commercial services and support. The Directorate provides specialist procurement and commercial expertise, to develop, deliver and manage procurement and contracting, and advises on policy interpretation and its application. The Directorate also manages relationships with key commercial, policy, legal and delivery stakeholders. Our Ideal Candidate ASCA is seeking skilled, experienced and dedicated commercial, contracting and procurement professionals who enjoy supporting challenging and highly complex commercial activities, and who possess:Demonstrated problem-solving skills to interpret, recommend and provide advice on complex commercial issues ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies and procedures.An ability to understand and apply legal principles, legislative and mandatory policy compliance obligations and critical commercial risk and performance requirements.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, to deliver procurement related documentation including correspondence, reports, plans, strategies, performance reviews, approaches to market, contracts and contract change proposals, and other commercial documentation.Flexibility and adaptability, and a willingness to lead change initiatives and challenge traditional ways of doing business.Trustworthiness and integrity at the highest level.Skills and experience in managing productive relationships and negotiating with diverse stakeholders including customers, commercial suppliers and subject matter experts.An ability to grow and lead teams, managing self-improvement and professional development as well as the professional development of your staff.
