THE OPPORTUNITY
The Consultant Developmental Paediatrician role involves:
Provision of assessment, diagnosis, care planning and treatment for Royal Far West clients together with a multidisciplinary team of clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, social workers, nurses, dietician and orthoptist.
Capacity building with families, local professionals, and Royal Far West staff, and registrar supervision, including leading case conferences and team feedback session with parents.
Opportunities to lead or contribute to Royal Far West research projects, to design and redesign of service models for vulnerable communities, and to develop or participate in community outreach clinics.
The role is part time (0.4 FTE)
Excellence in team leadership skills and communication is critical to operating effectively in this role.
THE ROYAL FAR WEST STORY
Royal Far West is a unique and innovative non-government organisation based in Manly, Sydney and a leading provider of specialist developmental health and disability services to children in rural and remote communities, and their families.
We have a large and dynamic multi-disciplinary clinical team, a dedicated school and a guesthouse which work together to improve outcomes for rural and remote children with, or at risk of, developmental, behavioural and mental health issues. In addition to services provided onsite in Manly, we support children and families in their communities via technology (telehealth) and community outreach.
Located close to Manly Beach, we are in a new, state of the art Centre for Child Health and Learning.
APPLICATION DETAILS
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Medical Practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales.
Requirements
Recognised specialist paediatric qualification by the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP) and preferably 3 years post fellowship in General Paediatrics or Community Child Health.
Applicants will have a recognised sub-specialty qualification in Community Child Health by the RACP or demonstrated experience equivalent to that required by Community Child Health training.
