Role Aim/Purpose:

BlackRock is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer for its business in Australia. This role will report directly to the Head of Compliance for Australia and deliver to a range of compliance thresholds and objectives, including the following:
working closely with the local, regional and global Legal & Compliance function and internal business colleagues to provide high quality compliance advice and guidance on a variety of Australian and cross border related issues.

ensuring compliance deadlines and deliverables.

problem solving, dealing with regulatory and financial crime compliance issues and providing constructive challenge to the business.

supporting and facilitating a compliance platform which is locally, regionally and globally consistent and compliant.

Key Responsibilities:
Providing compliance and regulatory advice to BlackRock’s Australian business based on:
ensuring compliance with BlackRock’s AFS license;

ensuring compliance with local laws, regulation and best practice;

BlackRock’s fiduciary obligations to its clients; and

ensuring compliance with BlackRock’s policies and procedures.

Advising on existing product ranges including managed investment schemes and compliance plans.

Reviewing and advising on marketing literature and marketing activities generally

Overseeing the administration and operation of existing compliance policies and procedures.

Assisting in the design and build of new products to meet regulatory obligations.

Monitoring, tracking and reporting on relevant local, regional and global regulatory developments.

Assisting in the drafting and review of new policies and procedures

Providing training to the business on compliance matters

Facilitating quarterly reporting to the external Compliance Committee

Liaising with and assisting internal and external auditors.

Participating in global and/or regional compliance initiatives to ensure global best practice and consistency.

Liaising with local, regional and global compliance and business colleagues.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge Required:

At least 7-12 years working experience in compliance, preferably at an investment management, or other financial services organisation.

University degree in Law/Finance/Accounting/Business/Economics preferred.

Strong knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment in Australia (experience of ASIC and AUSTRAC at both a regulatory/technical and policy level is an advantage).

Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills including the ability to write and present complex issues clearly, accurately and succinctly.

Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

High levels of intellectual rigour, attention to detail and inquisitiveness.

Excellent time management and organisational skills.

A genuine team player and role model who can interact and negotiate professionally, diplomatically and effectively with key internal and external business stakeholders.
