Full time or part-time (28hrs p/w), fixed term until 30th June 2026.
Located on the Parramatta and Penrith offices Opportunity to provide support to people in the community experiencing gambling related challenges or harm Base Salary HEO6, $99,455 - $107,216 p.a.
(pro-rata) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for a Community Engagement Officer (GambleAware) to be part of the GambleAware team, to provide counselling within the operating policies and related University policies to conduct effective community engagement with a range of stakeholders impacted by gambling harm.
The successful candidate will play a critical role by conducting effective community engagement with a range of stakeholders impacted by gambling harm across the Blue Mountains and Western Sydney GambleAware regions.
They will also undertake treatment of gambling related issues for gamblers and their significant others.
This role will require travel and the incumbent to be based in the Parramatta & Penrith offices as well as provide services across the Blue Mountains and Western Sydney region.
There may be the occasional requirement to work after hours and on Saturdays as required by the Manager.
Your key responsibilities will be to: increase awareness of gambling harm, options for gambling treatment and how to make referrals among relevant agencies, stakeholders, and organisations build strong relationships with external providers across the region and all GambleAware clinicians coordinate events for target groups to increase the profile and delivery of key GambleAware messages produce promotional and educational materials that are suitable for a variety of target audiences conduct community presentations, participate in local community events and spend time with local community members deliver community-based help-seeking and education sessions for a range of audiences including community, health, CALD and First Nations organisations.

As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Community Engagement Officer (GambleAware) who has: a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or equivalent training/experience in a relevant field a current or willingness to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC) a valid NSW full driver's license and vehicle registered with AHPRA, Psychology Board of Australia, Australian Association of Social Workers, or equivalent professional bodies demonstrated excellence in communication skills including public speaking/presentation skills a demonstrated experience conducting a range of community engagement activities experience in the treatment and assessment in the area of gambling (desirable) experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.
