The opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Community Engagement Coordinator in Darwin to join the AKKF team on a part-time (3 days per week) basis on a max term arrangement until 30 June 2025 with possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, the Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for:
Proactively engage with the broad community and the mental health sector within your region, to promote awareness and engagement with AKKF (i.e., with Defence partners, community groups, universities, referral agencies and any other identified stakeholders).
Within designated region develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with referral partners and other identified stakeholders.
Identify and attend (as appropriate) community engagement events/activities to promote AKKF, maintaining an accurate activity/engagement calendar.
Promote opportunities for identified community groups and schools to engage with AKKF national campaigns/events.
Work with the Community Engagement Manager to proactively identify and coordinate sources of young people within your region eligible to participate in AKKF programs, aligning sources of intake with program delivery locations.
Engage young people to sign up to AKKF programs through the AKKF referral process.
Proactively source, recruit, and coordinate the ongoing engagement of a team of volunteers to support and enable program delivery in your designated regions.
Work closely with the Community Engagement Manager to ensure volunteer sourcing and engagement is aligned to Service Delivery needs.
Complete reports as required by AKKF, within agreed time frames and to agreed standards.
About you:
To be successful in this role you will have:
Demonstrated experience in community engagement.
Experience in working with and engaging volunteers.
Demonstrated experience in the coordination and facilitation of events within a community setting.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suites.
Experience in working with CRMs or similar IT programs.
Personal alignment with AKKF values.
Ability to engage with a variety of audiences, tailoring communication to suit the relevant audience.
Professional with a high level of resilience and tenacity.
Proven team player who takes own initiative in supporting and achieving team goals/objectives.
Maintain a current satisfactory check for working with young people, as per the relevant State/Territory legislation.
Maintain a current and satisfactory National Police Check.
Maintain a driver's license and have access to own vehicle.
Qualification in Community Development, Mental Health, or related discipline.
Knowledge of and experience in working with and supporting the Defence Community.
Experience in the Not-for-Profit sector and working with young people.
Experience in the Mental Health sector.
