Inala Community House (ICH) is a progressive, community-based organisation located in the south-west suburbs of Brisbane.
We have been providing a range of responses to local communities for over 50 years and remain committed to making a real difference in the lives of those in the community we serve.
This role is based within the Community Engagement Service, which offers a wide range of community-based supports such as NDIS support coordination, healthy ageing programs, neighbourhood centres, community events, and settlement support.
About the Role50 hours part-time position, two-year contract until 30 June 2026.
ICH is excited to announce the development and launch of a strengths-based, trauma-informed INFANT program aimed at supporting women with babies (up to one year old) from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
This program will be delivered through a cultural lens, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment that respects and responds to the unique needs of each community.
The INFANT program is designed to enhance parents' and carers' knowledge and skills in promoting healthy eating, active play, and reducing screen time, all to support healthy growth from the earliest stages of life.
Backed by over a decade of research conducted by the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin University, this program provides evidence-based guidance for fostering lifelong healthy habits.
The program will be integrated into our Community Engagement team, which provides a variety of universal and targeted services to our culturally and linguistically diverse community.
This will include program planning, gathering client input, and promoting the launch of this exciting new initiative.
Full training will be provided in the INFANT program.
Duties of the RoleDelivering the INFANT program to parents and families of young children (0-1)Providing support to families if required, including the provision of information about other relevant agencies and supportsOngoing monitoring and support for mothers and their childrenRegular home visitsEnsuring families are aware of nutrition and developmental requirementsDeveloping strategies with families that reduce screen time and increase physical activity for the familyPromoting positive parenting practices, social development, and community connectionLiaising with a nutritionist about healthy meal options and designing menus that promote healthy eatingWorking with a range of stakeholders to provide holistic support and referrals to relevant organisations for parentsIn return for this, you will receive $37.35 hourly rates + super, flexible working hours by negotiation, access to generous salary packaging, and full training.

You will also be part of a diverse community organisation where you can learn about, interact with, and participate in our other services including Out of Home Care, Family Day Care, and Family Intervention Services.
