$79,000 APS5 Communications OfficerAbout Our ClientThe department oversees public health initiatives, healthcare services, and programs for older adults, ensuring national well-being and support for ageing populations. It manages policies, funding, and regulatory frameworks to promote health and quality care across the country.Job DescriptionSupport communication strategy development and campaigns with Senior Communications Officer and Assistant Director.Coordinate implementation and assess communication strategies for effective results.Write and edit content for diverse channels: web, social media, digital, PR, marketing.Assist in producing media content influencing government, Ministers, and public.Identify communication opportunities and create relevant materials.Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrate strong organisation, time management, and attention to detail.Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.The Successful ApplicantRequirementsMore than two years' experience working in a media and/or strategic communications role.Strong strategic communication skills, both written and verbal.Sound judgement and an ability to work under pressure.An ability to form strong and productive working relationships.Be able to work as part of a small team, as well as across various project teams.Ability to learn new IT systems quickly and efficiently.Demonstrated personal drive and integrity while achieving results.Ability to manage and prioritise competing issues and activities.EligibilityTo be eligible for employment with the department, applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made.An applicant's suitability for employment with Health will also be assessed through a variety of pre-employment check processes, such as:Satisfactory completion of an Australian Federal Police criminal history check, and where relevant a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check.Completion of a medical declaration and pre-employment medical (where required).Providing evidence of qualifications.What's on OfferOpportunities for professional growth and development in communications strategies.Exposure to high-impact media and government interactions.Chance to contribute to public health and stakeholder engagement.Dynamic work environment with varied projects and challenges.Collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders for holistic communication approaches.
