Clinician (Social Worker Level 2/Counsellor/Psych) - Alcohol and Other Drugs - Coffs Harbour Mid North Coast Local Health District – Coffs Harbour NSW
The Opportunity
This role provides a unique opportunity for a clinician, as part of a new team, to contribute to evidence and improve outcomes for people with AOD concerns. The In Reach/Outreach/Brief Intervention (IOBI) multidisciplinary team will provide counselling and brief intervention for clients seeking support for AOD concerns and will also provide in reach and outreach services. The In-Reach component will bring the team's community expertise into the hospital care setting. The outreach component will work with individuals with ongoing AOD issues who have had experiences that have impacted them to engage with services. This role will provide an effective and efficient Social Work/Counselling/Psychologist service that addresses the psychosocial aspects of care for patients receiving substance use treatment including providing support, education and resources as required.
This role is based in Coffs Harbour.
About You
Do you have qualifications eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; qualifications eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; or a bachelor's degree in counselling or a related field? The Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) is a government-funded health organisation that covers an area of 11,335 square kilometres extending from Port Macquarie in the south to Coffs Harbour in the north. MNCLHD provides a diverse range of services to a population of approximately 215,000 people. It has a workforce of 4,964 across seven hospital sites and 12 Community Health Centres.
This is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive for Category A positions prior to offer.

Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or qualifications eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; or a bachelor's degree in counselling or a related field, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer. Demonstrated current clinical knowledge, skills, and ability to effectively assess, provide counselling, and formulate treatment plans utilizing the principles of trauma-informed care. Understanding the principles of substance use disorders and treatment options available. Demonstrated ability to complete psychosocial assessments, counselling, and plan intervention as required. Demonstrated commitment and ability to work within a team approach, alongside other disciplines. Demonstrated ability to facilitate interagency meetings to coordinate care planning for complex patients. Demonstrated competence in verbal, written, and computer skills, and ability to manage significant workload. Current NSW driver's licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
