The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision and Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital's catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services. In-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.

The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.

Position: Clinical Nurse Extern
Region: Huron and Perth
Description: The clinical nurse extern will work as an unregulated health care provider in multiple units within the hospital. Clinicalnurse externs will work collaboratively with the unit nurses and allied health professionals under direct/or indirectsupervision of registered nursing professionals. Externs may perform some (pre-identified) Controlled Acts authorized to
nursing within the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) of Ontario delegated to them under the supervision of anursing professional who is authorized to perform them. The clinical nurse extern collaborates with the team to providequality, patient-centered care.
Temporary part-time and full-time positions are available. These positions are available as soon as possible based on applicant availability. Hours of work will vary based on the needs of the unit and applicant availability. Must be able towork some weekends and during school vacation periods.
Responsibilities: Assists patients with activities of daily living (personal care, toileting, feeding, etc.)Assists with hourly roundingAnswering call bells, addressing patient concernsEngages in additional skills via delegation as applicable and approved by unit leadershipCompletes basic patient assessments in accordance with skill and level of completed nursing educationPractices under the direct and/or indirect supervision of nursing professionals within the unit of practice.Opportunity for exposure to additional clinical skills across all hospital units (Obstetrics, surgical services,ambulatory care)Ability to organize, problem solve, critical thinking and decision making.Communicates with patients, families, physicians, staff and community partners.Observing and recording patient behavior. Evaluates patient outcomes.Competent operation of some medical equipmentMust meet occupational health requirements Qualifications:
Nursing learners who have completed a minimum their first full year of study and remain enrolled in a CNOapproved baccalaureate or diploma nursing programCurrent BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certificationEffective interpersonal and communication skillsSuccessful completion of recent clinical placement preferredHigh degree of physical effortHigh degree of mental effort and analysis Salary: $20.60 per hour
