Clinical Midwife (Data Coordinator), Maternity Unit - Women's Health, Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service - Cairns Enjoy the far North lifestyle while working with the Maternity Unit - Women's Health, ICU, Women's and Perioperative Services team as Clinical Midwife (Data Coordinator).
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service operates a comprehensive and safe maternity and birthing service for women across Far North Queensland.
On average each month, 187 babies are born at Cairns Hospital and each year more than 2,700 babies are safely delivered across our hospitals.
The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers a large geographic area with a diverse and growing population.
The Health Service provides a wide range of primary care, acute and specialist services.

About your opportunity: In this position you will provide an early leadership role within the career pathway for midwifery within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.
The Clinical Midwife Data Coordinator is responsible for oversight of the quality and completeness of perinatal data collection and other women's health databases at the Cairns Hospital.
This position works with and supports the Women's Health Managers and Regional Maternity Services Coordinator.
The Clinical Midwife Data Coordinator utilises advanced midwifery practice knowledge to ensure accuracy of data and interpretation.
About your role: Integrate advanced midwifery knowledge and clinical experience with evidence from a range of sources to ensure accuracy of data input and interpretation.
Monitoring the accuracy and completeness of data to assure figures meet quality standards.
Actively participate in the improvement of processes in relevant information systems.
Develop and maintain knowledge of database systems, standards, definitions, and procedures.
Maintain data security along with sensitive information.
Complies with organisational policy, including the confidentiality & privacy of health-related information.
Maintain appropriate documentation as part of the continuous quality improvement cycle.
Ability to work independently and strong engagement skills to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, Midwifery Unit Manager, Midwifery Director, business teams and State networks.
Perform functions necessary to prepare data for analysis and transfer to state and national database including checking accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
