About Us:Small Friends Childcare & Education Oak Park is a brand-new centre set to open in early 2024. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality, child-led learning programs where children feel valued and safe. Our guiding principles are to Inspire, Nurture, and Grow, and we adopt a holistic approach to early childhood education through thoughtfully designed environments, rituals, and experiences.
We are excited to welcome a motivated and enthusiastic Childcare Second in Charge (2IC) to join our Oak Park team on a full-time basis and help us build this new centre from the ground up.
The Opportunity:As the 2IC, you will work closely with the Centre Manager and other key members of our support team to assist in the set-up of this brand-new facility. You will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth opening of the centre, mentoring staff, and implementing high-quality early education programs. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a new centre from the beginning, where you can help shape its culture and practices.
Your Role:

Assist in the setup and preparation for the centre's opening in early 2024, working with the Centre Manager to establish operational procedures.
Mentor and guide educators in implementing high-quality early childhood programs, in line with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
Build strong, constructive relationships with children, families, staff, and the wider community.
Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the centre, ensuring compliance with National Quality Standards (NQS).
Create a positive, inclusive environment where children's individual needs and interests are met.
Support the team in problem-solving and customer care to ensure a positive experience for families and children alike.

What We Are Looking For:

A Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Experience in setting up a new childcare centre is highly desirable.
Minimum of 6 months experience in a Second in Charge (2IC) role or similar leadership position.
Strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standards (NQS).
A caring, nurturing, and intuitive team player with a vibrant energy for early childhood education.
Strong problem-solving skills and a focus on customer care.
A fun sense of humour while maintaining professionalism.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with families, children, and staff.

Requirements:

Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) for VIC.
First Aid and CPR certificates, including Asthma and Anaphylaxis training.
Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within the childcare sector.
