Queensland Youth Services (QYS) is a passionate not-for-profit organisation supporting youth in Townsville and Mount Isa, with a mission to empower young people and enhance their quality of life. The Opportunity As the Chief Executive Officer of Queensland Youth Services, you will provide visionary leadership and help shape the strategic direction of the organisation. Based in Townsville, this role will require occasional travel to meet the needs of QYS and its expanding services. You will be responsible for driving the QYS business strategy, fostering a positive organisational culture, and mentoring staff to deliver on the organisation's mission. With significant autonomy, you will oversee operations, manage risk, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation. The role would suit an innovative & collaborative leader with an empathetic approach and involves developing key relationships with stakeholders, advocating for youth issues, and securing funding with an awareness of social enterprise considerations to support QYS programs. Your Skills & Experience To excel in this role, you will have: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Human Services, Social Work, Business).Extensive management experience, covering Human Resource and Financial Management, and Community Development.Experience in the Community Service and not-for-profit sectors, bringing a passion for making a difference.In-depth knowledge of statutory requirements related to child and youth protection, and workplace health and safety.Strong leadership abilities, demonstrated through strategic planning, budget management, and fostering a positive organisational culture.The ability to manage people, establish effective work practices, and oversee contract management and reporting.A deep understanding of youth and social justice issues, with experience delivering impactful services to young people and their families.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire through both written and verbal communication.High levels of personal drive, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous self-improvement.Eligibility for a Blue Card and completion of a police check.
