Position: Chef
Salary: $76,000 plus 11.5% superannuation
Hours: 38 hours
Mode: Full time
Location: Element Building, Unit 155/43 Eastlake Parade, Kingston ACT 2604
Experience required: Minimum 2 years' experience in relevant roles.
We are currently seeking a skilled chef to join our team!
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Collaborate with the Head Chef and kitchen team to design and refine menus that reflect authentic Italian flavours, seasonal ingredients, and innovative culinary techniques.
• Take charge of preparing and cooking a variety of Italian dishes, ensuring all meals are prepared to the highest standards. This includes accurately following recipes, managing cooking times, and ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
• Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes, ensuring consistency and adherence to recipes and portion standards.
• Train and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring they understand and adhere to kitchen procedures, cooking techniques, and safety standards. Provide ongoing support and coaching to help them develop their skills and maintain consistency in food preparation and presentation.
• Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure freshness of ingredients.
• Assist in the daily operations of the kitchen, including scheduling, workflow management, and ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Work closely with the front-of-house team, managers, dietitians, kitchen staff, and waiting staff to accommodate special requests and dietary requirements. Actively engage in discussions to address any food preparation issues or concerns, ensuring a seamless and satisfying dining experience for all guests.
• Stay updated with current culinary trends and continuously explore new techniques and ingredients to enhance the menu offerings.
Qualifications:
• Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery (Preferred but not mandatory).
• Diploma in Hospitality Management (Preferred but not mandatory).
Skills and Other Requirements:
• Proven at least 2 years of experience as a Chef in an Italian restaurant or a similar high-volume, high-quality dining environment.
• In-depth knowledge of Italian cuisine, including pasta making, pizza preparation, and traditional Italian cooking methods.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse kitchen team.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Passion for food, creativity, and a keen eye for detail.
