At The Shed Cafe, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee our kitchen operations. This role requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and direct food preparation, cooking, and presentation for entrees, mains, and specialty dishes.
• Set up the kitchen with necessary utensils and equipment, including knives, pans, and kitchen scales.
• Work with cooks and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies.
• Collaborate with the Director to plan menus that are flavourful and popular with customers.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other food preparation workers to maintain high standards of food quality and service.
• Monitor and ensure food quality, quantity, taste, and presentation meet menu and customer expectations.
• Perform food preparation tasks and inspect orders to ensure consistent quality and presentation.
• Plan work on orders to ensure items served together are finished at the same time.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic environment in the kitchen to ensure proper food handling and delivery.
• Assist the Director in recruitment activities, including shortlisting, interviewing, and selecting candidates for cook and other food preparation positions.
• Stock and maintain adequate levels of food products at line stations.
• Advise on cooking methods and practices to enhance food quality and presentation.
• Support the Director in routine and specific tasks as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
• AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2).
• 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain quality of food under pressure.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
