**Role impact & contribution**

The Category Officer provides specialist procurement advice and data driven insights on a category/range of categories to assist stakeholders to plan, develop, source, and manage procurement arrangements to effectively meet business objectives and government directions.

You will be joining our NSW Procurement Operations and Management team and will be working within the Procurement Reform and Banking group. Read more about your future Group and Team.

**What you can bring to the role**

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.
- Ability to validate business needs and gather market information to inform procurement planning and category management.
- Skills in developing and implementing contract management plans, resolving issues, monitoring performance, and negotiating contract variations.
- Experience in implementing category plans and conducting sourcing activities across various categories.
- Strong negotiation skills to establish and review supply arrangements that deliver value for money.
- Providing governance, advice, and guidance to build procurement expertise within the organization.
- Identifying, mitigating, and escalating procurement risks to meet organizational obligations and maximize opportunities.
- Maintaining and updating procurement records and generating reports to ensure compliance and provide access to procurement information.
