The City of Marion is one of the largest councils in South Australia, and our Property Strategy & Delivery team is responsible for the planning, strategy, and delivery of an amazing portfolio of building and sporting assets and facilities.
Our team proactively works with internal customers and partners with sporting and community organisations who lease our facilities to ensure they are well utilised and deliver maximum public value to the community. Approximately 65 sport and recreation groups and thousands of their participants benefit from the use of our facilities and support.
Our team oversees ongoing capital works and strategic projects across a diverse portfolio, and now you can be a part of it. Due to the retirement of a long-term employee, there is now a project management position vacant in the delivery of community and sporting facilities.
You will collaboratively work in a multi-disciplined team that has a positive values-based culture and provide guidance, advice, and support to stakeholders and assist with the effective operation of clubs and tenanted sporting and community facilities.
Reporting to the Unit Manager Property Strategy and Delivery, in this position you will help to project manage the delivery of the annual capital projects program and lead the development, coordination and delivery of projects while working with stakeholders and contractors to ensure project delivery.
A day in life, where half of your time will be spent out of the office with stakeholders, will include some of the following:
Preparation of scope and specifications for capital projects in consultation with internal and external stakeholders including community organisations and sporting clubs Engage and liaise with architects and other building consultants to deliver designs and specifications for capital projects Coordinating tenders/quotations and contractor selection Liaising and supervising contractors Monitoring project expenditure ensuring that project is delivered within budget and on time Supporting the team's asset management planning To be successful in this position you will need to have sound knowledge and experience of project management principles and practices including contracts, costing, budgeting, and financial management processes.
You will be required to apply your extensive experience in the planning and delivery of capital works programs and track record in coordinating and supervising contractors and contracts to ensure agreed outcomes are achieved. A working knowledge and ability to apply asset management principles will be valuable to achieve best long term results.
Ideal applicants will have prior experience working with community groups, possess exceptional negotiation and consultation skills to create win-win situations to achieve positive community outcomes.
This position requires a flexible work schedule. Some out of hours work including weekends may be required. This position is also a Prescribed Position and as such the appointment is subject to a satisfactory Police Clearance check. A current driver's licence is also essential.
