Central Desert Regional Council is a local government authority covering an area over 282,000 Sq.
kilometres.
The Council provides a range of services in 12 communities to the North of Alice Springs: Lajamanu, Ti tree, Wilora, Nturiya, Pmara Jutunta, Willowra, Laramba, Nyirripi, Yuelamu, Atitjere, Engawala and Yuendumu.
The Central Desert area is considered remote and disadvantaged and over 80% of the population is Aboriginal.

About You:

Primary Objective of this Role:
The Business Partner, Employee Relations supports the Regional Manager in the delivery of employee relations and industrial relations functions and advice across the organisation, as well as training and supporting management and employees in the interpretation and application of legislation in accordance with Central Desert Regional Council strategic and regional plans, policies and procedures, and relevant legislation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide industrial relations advice, training and support to management and employees in the interpretation and application of workplace laws, Awards, Council's Enterprise Agreement and related industrial instruments.
Provide advice, investigate and report on employee relations issues including internal employee grievances and external complaints supported by the Regional Manager, People and Culture where necessary.
Provide advice and support line managers in complex performance management related issues, conflict resolution, disciplinary matters and mediation processes.
Analyse, develop and implement initiatives to drive organisational culture and behaviours to reduce employee grievances/complaints.
Review and develop the employee related policies and procedures and coach managers on the implementation of these documents.
Coach and mentor the team to translate People & Culture theory into practice.
Influence and coach line managers through strong relationships to understand their people management responsibilities.
Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic and service plan delivery.
Influence the development and promotion of, and be engaged in, an effective and proactive health, safety and wellbeing culture and approach.
Any other reasonable duties delegated by the Manager which are within level.
