About the opportunity A consulting position has become available in the Southern Highlands to cover LGA of Goulburn Mulwaree, Wingecarribee, Yass Valley, Upper Lachlan and Hilltops, to work within the highly regarded NSW Government funded Business Connect Program.
Business Advisors are required to build robust relationships within the business community through stakeholder engagement, networking and facilitating workshops thereby gaining client referrals to the Business Connect Program. Travel is required as an integral part of delivering the program, including providing business advice, stakeholder engagement and Head Office meetings.
You must possess the ability to work autonomously, be self-disciplined, and communicate effectively.
Reporting to the Program Manager, you will work closely with peers and colleagues within the Business Connect Program.
Advisors are expected to become integral components of their local business community, working closely with agencies including but not limited to, councils, local business chambers and other government organisations.
Key responsibilities Provide both face to face and online advisory support to small business owners in-line with the Business Connect Program GuideWorkshop/Seminar facilitation and deliveryPreparation and maintenance of reports and client dataAttendance at stakeholder functions – e.g., Business Chamber meetingsMaintain strong collaborative relationships with local and government stakeholdersRequired Skills, Experience and Qualifications Small business experience.
You must have owned or operated a small business with a turnover above 75,000 pa for a minimum of 18 monthsFormal qualifications in a business-related disciplineManagement, consulting, or advisory experienceUp to date knowledge and skills relevant to small businesses a broad range of abilities covering essential business topics including finance, marketing, and salesDigital literacy to support small business growth by encouraging digital innovationSound understanding of adult learning principlesSkilled professional business presenterSophisticated communication skillsCommitment to customer service positive outcomesAdvanced problem-solving abilityKey Required Behaviours of the role Effective CommunicationBuilding TrustEncouraging and MotivatingProblem-Solving with EmpathyContinuous Learning and ImprovementCultural SensitivitySupportive PresenceNon-Verbal CommunicationThese behaviours, centered around empathy, are necessary in helping to build strong, trusting relationships with clients, ultimately leading to more effective and meaningful support for their businesses.
