Due to the continued growth of our Data Centre company, an opportunity exists within our development team to be part of shaping Macquarie Data Centres AI and cloud designs and engineering for our current and future data centre builds. This includes our Superwest Data centre project, which is currently under construction, as well as playing a key role in future site selection and acquisition opportunities.
The Opportunity You will take a lead role as a specialist in the field, supporting the delivery of data centre projects and coordinating the production of feasibility studies, proposals and managing design deliverables. As a technical advisor, you will work closely with consultants and clients throughout the lifecycle of a data centre project including tenders and bids, initial concept generation, planning, construction stage design, to ensure delivery of key construction project requirements. Ensure technical requirements required by our hyperscaler customers and prospects are incorporated into future expansion design plans. Collaborate closely with a wide range of teams to deliver new and expansion projects efficiently and effectively. Contribute to all aspects of electrical design from initial business cases and feasibility studies to long-term facilities management and expansions. What You Will Do Managing our data centre consultants making sure they engineer and design to required standards. Stay at forefront of technology and Electrical equipment development; use knowledge to influence development designs and electrical design optimisation. Challenge electrical consultants with informed knowledge ensuring optimisation for customer requirements, cost management and efficiency. Contribute to design workshops including input into existing design standards and present actionable recommendations. Lead the review/amendment of Concept Designs and Proposals for Data Centres and Critical Facilities, coordinating with the wider Project and operational teams as required. Support the Bid Team by contributing to Proposals and Tender Responses. Develop electrical load balancing and assess overall impacts and capacities for new customer deployments. Provide insights into design risks related to redundancy and resiliency. Coordination with internal and external clients to determine proper requirements for projects. Construction site inspections and participate in Integrated Systems Testing (IST). Development of feasibility studies, due diligence reports, project scopes and risk assessments. Review drawing and modelling production work, including problem analysis. Work closely with engineering and project teams to complete and review projects on scope, budget and schedule, consistently applying relevant codes and standards. Your ideal skills and experience Minimum 8 years in Data Centres engineering design experience in consulting role and/or technical engineering experience. Expertise in Electrical Engineering: skills in managing all project stages for mission-critical facilities, with a special focus on electrical systems design, troubleshooting, and optimisation. Detailed understanding of uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, and automatic/static transfer switches. Systems Knowledge: Deep understanding of both low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) systems, including data centre redundancy principles like distributed and block redundancy. Proficient in fault level modelling and protection. Detailed understanding of relays, protection schemes, high-voltage distribution systems, power and distribution transformers, earthing and switching. Advanced understanding of technical engineering and codes/standards as they relate to data centre environments. Why Us?
