About the Opportunity The School of Health Sciences is the largest health sciences school in Australia consisting of seven disciplines.
The school provides professional preparation programs for a comprehensive range of health science professionals, as well as general degrees in health science.
The school enjoys a strong and dynamic research culture resulting from its commitment to achieving and sustaining research excellence in areas of established and emerging research strengths.
The school has approximately 200 academic staff, 100 professional staff, and 4,500 students.
Promoting Timely Diagnosis of Dementia in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities is an NHMRC funded project.
It is an extension of the existing Face Dementia project facedementia.au and will use a community-based participatory approach to decrease dementia stigma and increase help-seeking in CALD communities in South Western Sydney, specifically Chinese, Vietnamese, and Arab communities.
We are looking for an Arabic or Vietnamese-speaking Campaign Officer focusing on Dementia to join the Promoting Timely Diagnosis of Dementia in CALD communities project team at the Susan Wakil Health Building in Camperdown.
Some travel will be required for this role to areas within the South Western Sydney region.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Be To: Contribute to delivering the public campaign in South Western Sydney, including delivering talks to the public and health and aged care professionals.Build relationships and collaborate with community stakeholders to ensure successful program completion.Conduct translations of project materials into Arabic/Vietnamese (including website material and event information), write campaign stories in Arabic/Vietnamese, and deliver Arabic/Vietnamese social media content.Recruit project participants.Collect qualitative and quantitative data through interviews and surveys in English, and Arabic/Vietnamese.Other project-related tasks as required.About You To be successful in this role, you: Must be bilingual with fluency in either Arabic or Vietnamese.Must hold a driver's license and have access to reliable transport.Have a Bachelor's degree in health, communications, or a related discipline or relevant experience in public health promotion.Experience working with the Arab/Vietnamese community, and/or with older people.Experience with health promotion, education, or community engagement.Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.Are comfortable building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders from a range of different seniority levels.To keep our community safe, please be aware of our COVID safety precautions which form our conditions of entry for all staff, students, and visitors coming to campus.
