Beef Cattle Farmer

Full time and permanent position (38 hours per week)
Salary range: $54K + Super + accommodation
MICHAEL JUDE DE LONG (trading as Dampier Downs Station) is a cattle station 3 1/2 hours from Broome, Western Australia.
We seek an experienced Cattle Farmer to commence work at the start of the 2021 season. Please note, accommodation is not suitable for families.
Duties will include:
Rotating animals to maximise feeding options
Monitoring nutrition levels
Monitoring livestock for health issues and alerting owners to concerns
Preparing livestock for sale
Overseeing the sale and transport of livestock
Animal husbandry practices such as branding, vaccinating, ear marking/tagging, de-horning etc.
Overseeing general station maintenance including sheds, infrastructure, bore runs and farm machinery
Rostering, training and supervising labourers in routine station tasks
Maintaining accurate records to track station activities and production processes
Contributing to daily, weekly and monthly management plans
Essential criteria:
Minimum of five years of livestock farming experience (beef cattle and other livestock management considered)
Proficiency in, and a commitment to, low stress stock handling
Bachelor’s degree
Physically fit
Manual driver licence
Experience with a Road Ranger gearbox (HR licence preferred)
Computer literacy
Able to pass a drug test
