Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Undertaking Continuous Professional Development in core subjects such as medical emergencies, Infection Prevention Control (IPC), disinfection and decontamination, radiography and radiation protection, legal and ethical issues, and handling complaints, as recommended by the General Dental Council. Providing treatment in line with the scope of practice for dental hygienists as outlined in the General Dental Council publication 'Scope of Practice'. Delivering treatment in accordance with professional guidelines (e.g., BSP guidance) and agreed patient group directives. Supporting the Practice manager with administrative functions as required. Delivering elements of dental treatment plans on prescription from a registered dentist in line with professional body guidance. Being familiar with the content of the Dental Emergency Resuscitation Kit (DERK), knowing how to access it, and being capable of carrying out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) if necessary.

All employees joining the Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date. Failure to provide sufficient evidence may result in the offer of employment being withdrawn. There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
