The Job As the Assurance Controls Manager, you'll be a key player in our regulatory assurance activities. You'll spearhead efforts to conduct control testing activities and generate reports that evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls in managing risks and achieving desired outcomes. Your work will ensure that our legislation, policies, procedures, and operational activities are seamlessly integrated and effective. You'll also play a key role in supporting the governance of these activities, ensuring our regulatory systems are robust and efficient.
The duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
Designing verification activities to determine how well our regulatory measures protect against pests and diseases.
Generating detailed reports that highlight any gaps or weaknesses in our controls.
Collaborating with others to design and put into action solutions to address any identified weaknesses.
Supporting the section with data collection and analysis.
Maintaining a strong understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
Building strong working relationships across the department to gather information and evidence for assurance activities.
Preparing reports and advice for senior executives and governance committees.
Contributing to the development and implementation of strategic priorities and associated governance.
Participating in and/or representing the branch at internal and external workshops.

The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
What we are looking for Knowledge and experience Experience in a regulatory environment or in an assurance capacity would be of benefit.
Eligibility and other requirements The successful applicant must:
Hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle drivers licence.
Note that the physical requirements of the role(s) involve a combination of outdoor and office-based work.
Wear appropriate protective personal equipment and clothing to comply with departmental Work Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Note that intra and interstate travel may be required.
