This position is available for an immediate start.
As part of our firm, you will work closely with the Principal and Accredited Specialist, supported by a collaborative team of solicitors, semi-professionals, and administrative staff. This is a chance to thrive in a dynamic and supportive environment while advancing your legal career.
Responsibilities: Handle complex family law matters with professionalism and expertise. Provide empathetic support and guidance to clients throughout their legal journey. Review and analyse disclosure documents to ensure comprehensive case preparation. Prepare and update balance sheets for financial settlements. Draft clear and concise legal advice for clients. Compose professional correspondence and legal documents. Communicate with clients, opposing lawyers, mediators, experts, and barristers. Prepare thoroughly for mediations and attend as an advocate for clients. Assist in court matters, including document preparation and representation. Conduct legal searches and draft settlement agreements and court documents. Stay updated on federal and state laws, regulations, and practices relevant to family law. Facilitate property and parenting negotiations to achieve fair resolutions. Draft Consent Orders, Binding Financial Agreements, Child Support Agreements, and other court documents. Appear in Family Law and Domestic Violence courts to represent clients. Conduct client consultations, providing clear, practical, and empathetic legal advice. Manage cases from initiation to resolution, including Domestic Violence, Property Settlements, Divorces, and Parenting and care of children matters. Perform in-depth legal research and develop strategies to strengthen cases. Represent clients in court proceedings and mediation sessions. Review and draft legal documents with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. About You: To be successful, you will:
Be a team player with a strong work ethic and a proactive attitude. Have a minimum of 3 years post-admission experience (PAE) in family law, with the ability to manage a personal file load. Be client-focused with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Be warm, positive, and professional with outstanding attention to detail and organisational skills. Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and practice management software, with the ability to quickly learn new systems. Be self-motivated, capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Be skilled in legal research, case preparation, and drafting, with experience handling Family Law matters, including Domestic Violence, Property Settlements, Divorces, and Child Custody cases. Have strong advocacy and negotiation abilities, with court representation experience being advantageous. Be committed to achieving billable targets and demonstrating a solid understanding of the financial aspects of the role. Be eager to promote and market the firm's services actively. Be capable of setting goals, prioritising tasks, and managing competing deadlines effectively. Be a keen participator in the Brisbane Family Law community and committed to maintaining professional relationships. Be adaptable, able to make decisions quickly in a dynamic environment. Be dedicated to resolving client matters efficiently and collegially, with a focus on building positive client and practitioner relationships. Hold admission as a Lawyer in Queensland with a current QLD Driver's License or access to reliable public transport. Be available to start as soon as possible.
