Assistant Project Manager – Major Works About the role The Assistant Project Manager will assist the Senior Project Manager in managing the principal contractor and lead consultant teams through project governance and formation to deliver the major capital works outcomes.
The Assistant Project Manager must assist the Project Management Team in: Day to day carriage of the project Ensuring the strategic needs and objectives are met.
Actively monitoring the Deliverables to be provided by the Other Consultants and/or the Contractors identifying any gaps and recommending and initiating corrective actions in a timely manner.
Actively monitoring the compliance of the Contractors with their contractual obligations.
Actively monitoring the inputs, activities and resources to be provided by the principal and its stakeholders and identifying gaps and recommending and initiating corrective actions in a timely manner.
Managing time, cost, quality, scope, risks and opportunities.
Managing compliance with any licenses, permits, approvals and any environmental management or monitoring activities.
Key responsibilities will include: The Assistant Project Manager is required to possess expertise and an understanding of the following competencies in the execution of the Services and Deliverables for all Phases and Services for which they are engaged: Reporting and Communication.
Change and Scope Management Design Management and Control.
Procurement and Contract Administration.
Commissioning and Facilities Management.
Quality Control.
Environmental Management, Monitoring and Compliance.
Cost & Risk Management.
The Successful Candidate Relevant tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications in Construction, Engineering, Project Management or related fields.
5+ years of relevant project planning and or delivery experience.
Proven experience in the successful planning and/ or delivery of construction projects to a value of more than $20 million.
Proven experience of long duration delivery projects, typically up to 3 years, with clear objectives, potential for conflict and several influential key stakeholders.
Strong leadership of small teams and has demonstrated experience to achieve outcomes.
Ability to apply governance, guidelines, standards and processes which are generally clear and established, but have potential for ambiguity in some areas.
Ability to respond to unpredictable risks and manage several simultaneous phases across multiple projects.
Current driver's licence.
