St George School is located in Kogarah and is dedicated to providing education for students with severe physical and multiple disabilities, serving those from preschool through Year 12. With a capacity for 66 students across 11 classes, the school emphasises a collaborative approach involving families and external providers to create personalised learning experiences tailored to each student's needs.
The school prioritises student wellbeing and student voice, fostering a supportive learning environment that focuses on collaborative curriculum planning to address complex learning needs. We are seeking an experienced or aspiring middle leader to join our leadership team in 2025. The ideal candidate will possess strong or emerging leadership skills, educational expertise, and a deep understanding of the diverse needs of students with disabilities including those with complex health needs. This role will be dynamic, with responsibilities that adapt to the daily and ongoing needs of the school. This role will include a combination of face-to-face teaching, leading, managing and mentoring.

Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with severe intellectual disability, autism, physical disabilities, and other complex health needs with demonstrated capacity and experience in exemplary classroom practice.Demonstrated capacity to develop and lead differentiated high-quality teaching and learning programs including the new K-10 curriculum tailored for students with disabilities.Proven ability to lead and/or deliver, evidence-based and evaluative practices with a focus on continuous improvement, which ensure all students access and achieve success within all aspects of whole school life.Evidence of a highly visible, approachable and collaborative leader with a capacity to develop, implement and maintain inclusive and trusting relationships with the school leadership team, students, families, staff, and external agencies. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
