Then don't let this fantastic opportunity pass you by!About The RoleIn the role of Assistant Materials Officer, you will provide assistance to the materials practitioner and can expect to undertake a diverse range of activities that include sampling, mechanical tests, equipment calibration and field investigations and field testing.Some Of Your Responsibilities Will IncludeUndertaking basic construction compliance tests and assist materials practitioners with other tests including specialist tests.Assist with sampling, equipment checking and calibration and investigations.Perform all sampling and testing in strict accordance with the Materials Services Management Operations System.Use all equipment, apparatus and reagents in keeping with documented procedures as well as ensure all personal protection equipment (PPE) and other safety devices such as fume cupboards are used when and as directed.Develop the capability and competency to become a materials practitioner in keeping with the Materials Services Career Development Program.Participate through the achievement planning process in personal development activities that align with Departmental business needs and personal aspirations.Assist senior staff in liaising with customers, stakeholders and service authorities.Develop an understanding of NATA accreditation and work towards developing personal NATA delegated signatory.Comply with the WHS Act, Regulations and Departmental Policy.Mandatory RequirementsThe position holder must meet the minimum NATA Supervision requirements for a Level 2 ("Officer working unsupervised"). Personnel designated at NATA Supervisory Level 2 will hold:Minimum of Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques applicable to Construction Materials Testing andNot less than 2 years fulltime experience in Construction Materials Testing duties.Required to commit to the Materials Services Career Development Program which will include achievement of a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques.A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence.Requirements Of The RoleAbility to work independently with minimal supervision, while also working collaboratively within a small team.Undertake sampling from quarries.Perform general construction compliance testing.Undertake investigations in a small team and do instrument checks.Flexibility to work away from home to remote locations, where necessary, on a scheduled 9-10 day rotation period.Pursue opportunities for personal growth through agile learning and development of self-awareness.Desirable RequirementsThis role requires a significant amount of calculations utilising both manual and software-based tools.
