Assistant Director, Digital Governance and Compliance About the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission
The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019.
We work to improve the lives of older people by maintaining the integrity of the aged care system.

As the single independent regulator of Australian Government aged care services, we offer a variety of interesting and challenging jobs across most capital cities.

It is an exciting time to join the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, with major reforms underway to improve aged care in Australia.
You will be contributing to our role as the national regulator to safeguard and protect older Australians receiving aged care services.

The Digital Governance and Compliance Team sits within the Strategy and Architecture Section of the Digital Group.
That section provides strategic direction, guidance, and governance for the effective management and optimisation of the Commission's Digital & ICT infrastructure, ensuring that technology investments support the Commission's goals and priorities.

The purpose of the Digital Governance and Compliance Team is to establish and enforce governance frameworks, policies, and compliance standards for the delivery of digital initiatives within the Commission, to safeguard project integrity, deliver visibility into project risks, and support enterprise-wide reporting.

About the Role
This is a new role, and we are seeking a person who has the skills, experience and ability to establish, implement, and maintain governance frameworks, policies, and compliance standards for the Commission's digital initiatives.

This role is critical in ensuring that digital projects align with the Commission's objectives, comply with regulatory requirements, and maintain project integrity.
By delivering visibility into project risks, supporting enterprise-wide reporting, and enforcing governance policies, this role will enable the Digital Group to achieve successful digital transformations that meet the Commission's objectives and uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability.

They will lead a small team and will work closely with the Digital Program Delivery Team Lead to ensure the successful delivery of digital initiatives that support the Commission's objectives.

Position Duties
Governance Framework Development and Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain digital governance frameworks that support effective project oversight, risk management, and strategic alignment across the Digital Group.
Compliance Management: Monitor and enforce compliance with digital project standards, including security, data privacy, accessibility, and regulatory guidelines.
Risk Identification and Management: Establish risk management protocols to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with digital projects.
Enterprise-Wide Reporting and Visibility: Oversee the creation of clear, actionable reports on project governance, risk, and compliance for stakeholders across the organization.
Policy Enforcement and Project Integrity Safeguarding: Enforce governance policies across digital initiatives to ensure project integrity, consistency, and adherence to best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Engage with project managers, ICT team members, and senior leaders to promote understanding and adherence to governance frameworks and compliance standards.
Continuous Improvement and Best Practices: Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in digital governance and compliance.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and implement metrics and KPIs to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of governance and compliance initiatives.
Support Strategic Objectives: Align digital governance and compliance practices with the Commission's strategic objectives, ensuring that projects contribute to the Commission's long-term goals.
Position Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria)
Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or demonstrable relevant experience - advanced degree or certification in governance, compliance, or risk management is highly desirable.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in governance, compliance, or risk management within a digital or ICT environment, including experience in a managerial role.
Proven experience developing and implementing governance frameworks, policies, and compliance standards.
Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment and mitigation strategies, especially in a digital project delivery context.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, data privacy laws, and industry standards in digital project governance.
Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and make data-driven recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in enforcing compliance and documenting governance activities.
Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools, with experience in oversight and reporting.
Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across the organization, promoting governance and compliance adherence.
Currently hold or eligible to obtain a BASELINE security clearance i.e.
hold Australian Citizenship.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience in budget management, financial forecasting, and reporting, with a focus on resource efficiency.
Experience working within an Australian Government agency is highly regarded.
Position Notes
Salary offered will be between $114,247- $130,300 per annum depending on skills and experience.
In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
Only candidates who hold Australian citizenship can apply.
Appointment is conditional on successfully completing a national police check.
Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term.
Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total of 24 months.
Merit Pool established through this selection process may be used to fill this or future ongoing or non-ongoing vacancies.
