Assistant Accountant

Southern.IML Pathology has a vacancy for a full-time assistant accountant. As part of Sonic Healthcare, Southern.IML Pathology provides a diagnostic pathology service covering an area from Engadine in Southern Sydney to Narooma on the far South Coast of NSW.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to further develop their accounting knowledge and experience working for a practice that is part of Sonic Healthcare, a strong healthcare services provider globally.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position supports the Accounting and Finance functions of the practice including bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and contributing to end-of-month financial reporting and associated activities.
This role will also include maintaining adequate filing systems and providing customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
The successful applicant will need to be pro-active in meeting financial deadlines with a positive can-do approach.
To succeed in this role, the applicant will have: A tertiary qualification in Accounting or a finance-related discipline such as an Accounting Degree.Previous experience in a similar role, with a minimum of 2-3 years' experience.Extensive knowledge in MS Excel, including V&H look up and Pivot Tables.An understanding of accounting concepts, with strong knowledge and practical experience in applying accounting policies and procedures.Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on reaching reconciliation outcomes.Ability to use positive language and provide clear communication (both oral and written) to deal with stakeholders, management, and customers (both internal and external).Proven track record of working co-operatively within a team environment.Excellent organisational skills to prioritise work to meet deadlines.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.CA or CPA would be highly regarded. Applicant must be vaccinated for COVID-19.
This position offers the opportunity for professional growth working closely with an experienced Financial Controller, and the position is located in the local area at 3 Bridge Street Coniston.
