$83,706 - $89,659 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Rockingham - WA The Role The Explosive Ordnance Assurance Technical Officer is one of three APS members working within the Joint Explosive Ordnance Support (JEOS) team in WA.
JEOS areas of responsibility focus on providing assurance that all aspects of Military Explosive Ordnance handling, storage, transport and disposal is conducted safely and in accordance with relevant policy and procedures.
The incumbent is also required to inspect and sentence guided weapons as they are transferred from units back into storage.
The position requires the incumbent to visit all Defence Establishments in the WA region on an annual basis and meet with senior members of these units.
Effective verbal and written communication skills are highly desirable.
JEOS-WA consists of a small team of Explosive Ordnance experts who are frequently engaged to guide and mentor all Defence Units in WA on all aspects of Explosive Ordnance Handling, storage, transport and disposal.

JEOS-WA is one of seven regional offices around Australia with the WA office consisting of eight highly professional and technical personnel in the field of Explosive Ordnance.
Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will need to be able to work well in a small team and know where and who can best advice about any technical matters related to Explosive Ordnance (EO).
The candidate will be required to travel to the various Defence unites within WA on an infrequent basis.
Working with the other regional JEOS offices interstate is occasionally required.
The ideal applicant has a developed understanding of compliance and relevant EO legislative frameworks.
Ability to apply EO knowledge in the conduct of investigations, research, reviews and assessments to meet operational support work is a core component of the position.. Training can be provided to the selected candidate for gaining qualifications in Explosive Ordnance Inspection and Guided Weapons sentencing.
