The ClientOur Client is a Cairns based Government Department that works across the North Queensland region. Client is looking for someone local to Cairns or a commutable distance, this role is not FIFO and it is not open to relocation as it is a temporary role.The OpportunityAre you passionate about workplace health, safety, and the environment? Do you have experience in the construction, building, or maintenance industry? We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable WHS & Environmental Advisor to join our team in Far North Queensland. This role is integral to ensuring the safety and well-being of our team members and stakeholders.Key Responsibilities:Conduct WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure compliance for contractor-delivered work.Provide expert WHS&E advice to operational, supervisory, and management staff regarding Safety Management System (SMS) processes and legislative compliance.Assist in developing and delivering information sessions to educate department staff on relevant WHS&E matters.Support the reporting and investigation of WHS&E incidents, including contractor notifiable incidents.Contribute to worker rehabilitation and return-to-work programs under the guidance of the RRTW Advisor or WHS Manager.Coordinate emergency planning and response activities for offices and depots.Develop, review, and implement Safe Work Method Statements (SWMSs), risk assessments, and WHS Management Plans.Provide regular WHS&E reporting for regions and business units.Deliver a range of health and safety programs that meet the needs of our stakeholders.About YouProven experience in WHS&E within the construction, maintenance, or a similar industry.Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent qualification.Strong knowledge of industry-specific hazards, risks, and control measures.Ability to interpret and apply WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and Australian/International Standards.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with employees, managers, and other stakeholders.Ability to build and maintain positive relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.If you are a proactive and dedicated professional with a commitment to safety and environmental management, we encourage you to apply.
