Regulatory Services team have an exciting permanent opportunity working as Animal Enforcement Officer.
About the role As the Animal Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for assisting with obtaining compliance with the Companion Animals Act from members of the public throughout the LGA, as well as ensuring that Council fulfils its requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Enforce the provisions of legislation, Council's adopted policies and codes.
Patrol of the land under Council's control or ownership, investigating complaints and issuing of warnings, infringements or notices for breaches.
Assist Animal Management Officers, Rangers, Health Officers, Parking Officers and other Council Staff when required.
Seizing dangerous dogs and transporting to Councils approved external animal holding facility.
Trapping and transporting colony cats to and from the RSPCA.
Liaising with animal rescue organisations to rehome animals.
Educating the community regarding stray and feral cat issues and trying to rectify them.
Procurement of food and other supplies as required.
About You We are looking for someone with: Knowledge of the Companion Animals Act and Regulations, Impounding Act and Regulations and Road Rules 2008 and Regulations.
Statement of Attainment in ACMMIC401 Implant Microchip in Cats and Dogs (or currently enrolled and working towards obtaining) Current C Class Drivers License Previous experience handling companion animals and livestock.
Ability to work autonomously and in a potentially volatile environment.
Previous experience processing parking infringement notices.
Demonstrated computer and report writing skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
Ability to enforce legislation to achieve compliance.
What's on offer We are offering an attractive remuneration from $75,922 to $83,609 plus 11.5% superannuation.
City of Parramatta plans to hold interviews for this position in mid-December with an expected start date for the successful candidate in January 2025.
