Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking an Airport Manager to join the team.

$120,000+ per annum (dependent on qualifications/experience) + Superannuation 5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading) Monthly RDO Personal (Sick) Leave Private Use Vehicle We are looking for a dedicated professional to oversee operations in a safe and regulated manner while ensuring strict adherence to all relevant legislative requirements.
Operational Responsibilities These include enforcing Council Local Laws and CASA, DOTARS, and OTS regulations, ensuring the security of aerodrome property and equipment, and ensuring compliance with Council's Workplace Health and Safety standards and aerodrome operations.
The role also involves developing, implementing, and monitoring several key programs, such as the Transport Security Program (TSP), Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP), Disability Access Facilitation Plan, and Safety Management System (SMS), all in line with relevant legislation.
The successful candidate will build public relations, coordinate airport emergency response exercises, and ensure compliance with airside parking regulations.
Additionally, maintaining airside and terminal facilities, including regular wildlife management, line-marking, lighting, pavement, vegetation control, and ground maintenance, is essential.
Accurate monthly reporting to the Council on airport operations and statistics is required.
Security Screening Duties These involve supervising security screening personnel to ensure their activities align with relevant legislation and work practices.
The role includes training personnel on screening equipment and standard operating procedures, interviewing suspect individuals who trigger alerts during screening, maintaining screening equipment, and continuously updating the Transport Security Program to ensure compliance with current legislation.
Additional duties may be assigned as directed by the supervisor.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate proven capability in reporting against program and budget, possess strong knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety obligations, the ability to proactively manage risk, and knowledge of public liability regulations.
Excellent people management, planning, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
Additionally, strong literacy, numeracy, and computer skills, with the ability to learn new systems, and the capacity to maintain confidentiality are required.
